Lee Goldberg Biography

Lee Goldberg was born on the 20th of February in 1962, which was a Tuesday. For readers interested in all things astrological, that means he’s a Pisces, which is a Water sign.

Lee was born in Oakland, California, but other than that, very little is known about his early life. His mother Jan was a writer, while his father was a TV news journalist. Lee has one brother and two sisters (Tod, Linda, and Karen, all of whom are writers). His mother hoped he’d grow up to be a doctor, while his grandfather hoped he’d be drawn to the family furniture business. Neither happened. Not for a second. Lee had very fixed ideas about what he was going to do, and it didn’t involve looking down people’s throat or polishing teak.

When Lee was still only around ten years old, he enjoyed borrowing his mother’s typewriter and writing stories – his first was a futuristic tale about an underwater police officer. Other books were about a about gentleman thief he called Brian Lockwood. He wrote throughout high school years too. And not just stories, but for the school newspaper.

Working as a freelance journalist, Lee managed to afford to put himself through college. Lee attended the University of California, Los Angeles (commonly known of as UCLA), which is a large university with a student body of around 45,000. He made money while studying by writing for such publications as The Washington Post. As for his first published ‘fiction’ – he was paid $25 a pop to write sex…
